Heard of all of those programs except Stratagen which is new to me. The details on the Gas Giant and its rings are pretty realistic, I know how hard it can be to make realistic Jupiter-like planets which look decievingly simple.
Stratagen is a little program to create strata for use in Vue or Terragen to simulate... well... strata. I used it in this picture as lines in the rings.

Oh Ok, I though maybe it was involved in the details of the planet, because the style used on that is very unique among space-artists who draw Gas-Giants.
A glow on the planet would make this perfect!

The Gasgiant is very much like described in many tutorials with just some little extra. I took clouds, transformed them and then blended them in. Seems to work. ;)

Ah yes, I know how it was done then because I do it the common way as well. Plus I guess everyones planets come out different once they find their own way to utilise a tutorial.
Yep, exactly what I do. Take the best from the tutorials and then go further and put in my own techniques and ideas. Man, If I look at my first planets... pfhhh
