Got tagged...

The rules:
1. post these rules
2. Each person tagged must post 8 random (hopefully interesting) facts about themselves
3. Tags should write a journal of these facts
4. At the end of the post 8 more bloggers are tagged and named
5. Go to their page and leave a comment telling them that they're tagged.

1. I'm poor (for a german)
2. Most of the money I earn goes to the machine.
3. I can sleep till hell freezes over.
4. I'm a coke addict. (Coca Cola rulez!!!)
5. I've got no TV. (the program simply sucks and to pay for that... no way!)
6. I love Canada and wish I could live there. (That's not as weird as it sounds)
7. I started posting at DA only to get more input... I was never very active here.
8. Solar Voyager is my homebase [link]

Let's see who get's tagged next...

The site you mentioned under the 8th one was interesting. A lot of good comments were under the stock planet you recently submitted, makes me want to try making one in Vue myself.

Money goes to the machine ?...What machine ? please don't tell me you are a slot-jockey.
No, no... I'm not a slot-jockey, that would be just stupid. With machine I mean my PC. Has to be powerful to work with Vue and to get this really good games running on high fps. And those power doesn't come cheap.

Oh, then thats a good cause. I need more RAM and a faster processor myself, everytime I want to create a vast forest like the one you did in "Tepui" I get a message saying "to populate this ecosystem requires a vast amount of resources and your system may run out of memory" GRRR, the ecosystems are one of Vue's best features too !...Plus I can't render very large or hi-res images either because I get the same message which forces me to render a smaller size :X
You wanna know the most evil message Vue can give? This one:

Out of memory error! Vue is about to crash...

That sucks. And I have 2 gig really fast RAM installed. (I'm shaking my head here) :(

Sounds like you and priteeboy need each need a render farm (or beowulf clusters). They can be put together from old computers, or, as these guys in Calvin College did [link] , put one together quite inexpensively with their specs [link]
A lot of artists could use render farms. Animated movies are made using render farms. The Calvin College project might just have started a trend: home supercomputing.

Hi Solo. That's what I'm talking about. More POWER!!! Wish I had the money to build me one of those. The Microwolf would do the trick I think. Or one Machine similar to mine and then linked together.

Some folks start out small, with maybe 4 old used computers that they rescue from people getting rid of them, for a 4-node cluster, and expand as the opportunity to add more nodes arises. I also have seen (online somewhere) where the nodes were a mixture of both old PCs and old Macs, as the cluster was using Linux Distros built for both platforms. Many of those animated movies are made with a program called "Blender". The cluster only uses the processing power and RAM of each node, to speed up rendering time. By looking at the Microwulf, I can see, by today's prices, where one could even lower the cost of the system from their posted under US$1300 price tag.
I just put together a slightly slower system (on paper) on what it could cost and I came up with US$1057.75 for both the "system" and the "non-essentials". I find it could be even less if gigabit ethernet wasn't used, only 10/100. That's not counting additional lower costs by using extra hardware I have laying around here. So it is really cheaper to do if you are able to snag used computers.

I sometimes get a similar message that says "Vue 6 has encountered a problem and needs to close, please tell microsoft about this problem" But sometimes that isn't just Vue, it happens at rare, and random times, even if there isn't a heavy load of information. Photoshop has done it to me plenty of times and so does the internet. I don't often work on huge Photoshop documents, hardly exceeding 4000 pixels wide and I keep layers to a minimum ( I may have 20 at the most at any given time ) But out of nowhere, it just crashes :frustrated:
That doesn't sound too good. But it sure teaches one to save very often. :D
